In 2008 Matthew Nordal, a red-seal qualified journeyman machinist, opened the doors of Matts Metal Works. He and his wife Thera worked out of their two car garage, that had been converted to be a small work shop, and a camper trailer, that doubled as an office until 2013.  By 2012, the business had grown to the point of needing more space and so in 2013 the big blue shop was built.

Over the years, the business has grown in size and diversity, from in-house welding, custom fabrications, and precision machining, to portable welding, alongside welding gas and consumables sales as a Praxair depot. The later addition of hydraulic assembly and agricultural parts from Westward Parts, ensures that Matts is able to fill the needs of the farming community it serves.

Although the agriculture industry is a large portion of the work that fuels the business Matts Metal Works has also taken on custom fabrication projects, such at the park benches and picnic tables in community spaces in the Strasbourg and Southey and hand railings for serveral community buildings.

Matthew, Thera and their three kids are proud to be involved in activites and events in the communities that surround their home and business.  They would like to thank the residents of Southey, Earl Grey, Bulyea, Strasbourg, Punnichy, Raymore, Cupar, Markinch, and the surrounding farming communities for their support and patronage over the years.
